Author Visit March 20th!

Georgia Picturebook Award Winner for 2016!
David Biedrycki is coming to Starling Elementary for a full day of awesome presentations on Monday, March 20th!

Here's a link to a page with more information, including how to pronounce his name! (It's ba DREE key)

He is amazing. He's illustrated for other authors and done many books himself including his Ace Lacewing, Bug Detective series; his Santa series; his Dragon series; and his new Bear Alert series his working on.

I've read at least some of his books to most of the K-2 classes and mentioned his visit to every class I can.

I'll send a link to an order form to all the teachers if you'd like them to print one out for you. He'll bring paperbacks of many of his books, available for only $8 each and I'm sure he'll be happy to sign them!

Not everyone at Starling will fit in the Media Center at once so we will be having four presentations and streaming it live to the classrooms as well so everyone will have a chance to see him! [edit: And now all of his presentations will be available on our Youtube channel until school is out.]

Thanks Dan Santat, For Being Awesome!

That's me and CALDECOTT MEDAL-winning illustrator and author Dan Santat who has just signed our copy of Beekle: An Unimaginary Friend to YOU GUYS, "the students of Starling Elementary." How cool is that? He came to the coolest bookstore in the area, The Little Shop of Stories to give a hilarious presentation and sign a bunch of stuff. Becasue he's awesome!

His new book is perfect for getting ready for summer travels. It's called Are We There Yet? and is all about how time goes so slow when we're bored but fast when we're having fun. It's great. Make your way down to the Little Shop in Decatur this summer when you're looking for something to do and grab a copy. Maybe they'll even still have some signed ones.

THANK YOU DAN SANTAT FOR BEING SO NICE AND SMART AND FUNNY AND AWESOME!
